Ekrem Civas MD, Hasanmete Aksoy MD,Berna Aksoy MD, Muhitdin Eski MD. Turkish Journal of Plastic Surgery 27 (4), 160
Abstract: Hair transplantation for the treatment of secondary cicatricial alopecia has recently become a more widely used technique. This study evaluates the results of use of hair transplantation surgery in patients with secondary cicatricial alopecia. Forty-five patients with a definitive clinical diagnosis of secondary cicatricial alopecia were included in this retrospective study. Hair transplantation done directly into scar tissue could be the first line treatment in selected cases with secondary cicatricial alopecia as this method is less traumatic and easier to perform in comparison with other surgical treatment methods.

Techniques and Applications of Hair Transplantation in Hair Diseases
Ekrem Civas MD. Hair Disorders
Abstract: Hair transplantation is one of the most complex esthetic surgical procedures. It is the only alternative method to recover the hair loss in some hair diseases including genetic hair loss or cicatricial alopecia. It is possible to achieve almost fully natural results by the way of the transplantation of the follicular unit, which is the modern hair surgery procedure. Follicular unite extraction technique has become popular in the last 10 years, and indications of FUE are increasing day by day due to the fact that there is no linear scar remaining in the donor area and hair from different body parts such as the beard and chest can be used as donor sites.

Ekrem Civas MD, Berna Aksoy MD, Berna, Barıs Surucu MD, Erol Koç MD, Hasan Mete Aksoy MD. Photomedicine and laser surgery 2010;28(5)
Abstract: Three dimensional (3D) skin rejuvenation is proposed to be effective for all skin layers. The aim of this concept is to treat sun spots with broad-band pulse light; large pores, fine lines and vascular lesions with a long-pulsed 1064 nm neodymium-yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG) laser system and skin ptosis and laxity with a 1100-1800 nm infrared light source. In this study, 46 patients treated with the 3D skin rejuvenation procedure were retrospectively evaluated to assess the effectiveness of the 3D procedure according to both patient and doctor satisfaction. All of our patients showed improvement. Female patients were more satisfied than male patients. Patient and doctor satisfaction scores were generally correlated. Our clinical results indicate that the 3D procedure is an effective nonsurgical skin rejuvenation method.
Getting Hair Follicles by FUE Method
Ekrem Civas MD. Turkey Clinics Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Special Topics 2010;3(4)
Follicular unit extraction is a method of hair transplantation by obtaining hair follicles from the donor area one by one in vivo without making a linear incision. The hair follicles are taken directly after the round incisions made around the follicular unit with small punches. The most important reason for the need for this method is that it does not leave a line-like scar on the neck and allows other alternative body parts to be used as donors (such as breast hair, beard hair).
Anesthesia in Hair Transplantation
Ekrem Civas MD. Turkey Clinics Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Special Topics 2010;3(4)
Abtract: Selection and application of the appropriate anesthetic agent is one of the most important parts of hair transplant surgery. Patients should feel as comfortable as possible, both physically and psychologically, only by minimizing anxiety and pain. At this point, the physician should have information about the effects, duration of action, potential toxicity and toxic effects of all drugs used.
Introduction to Hair Transplantation Surgery, General Information
