A number of people experience a change in the hair texture after a hair transplant procedure, if you are one of these people then there is no need to panic or think it was not worth the wait.
Just like a farmer who plants red apple seeds, his expected results after harvesting must be red apples. Considering this, a new full head of hair or advanced hairline will not spring up instantly. In fact, your scalp and hair grafts will likely go through some weird phases, although these phases are a perfectly normal part of the process, they can be scary and disturbing at times. Just know we understand and are always here for you.
What is hair texture?
Some people think that when you touch your hair and learn how it feels, greasy, oily that is hair texture. Well the truth is that is not true that is simply that is just the state is your hair.
Hair texture describes the circumference of the hair. There are three different hair texture types—fine, medium and thick. Each hair texture type has its own traits that set it apart from other hair textures and influence the care or treatment it may need. I should agree that we have all met friends that have the above types of textured hair
It is the most fragile hair texture with each individual hair is thin and only has two hair layers; cortex and cuticle.
People with this hair texture find it hard to keep hair in a style because it might get oily easily. And, as you probably known, too much product will weigh this hair texture down, making it break easily.
If you have hair of fine texture make sure you prevent from combing it while weak, this causes a lot of breakage.
It is the most common type of hair texture, and is thicker than fine hair.
The individual hairs have the same two hair layers that fine hair has, but may also have the third one – the medulla.
Medium hair can keep hairstyles better, looks thicker and is more resistant to breaking.
Thick or coarse hair
This hair texture has all three hair layers; cortex, cuticle, and medulla. Thick hair gives the impression of a fuller head of hair, and it can hold a hairstyle well.
If you have thick hair texture, your hair is more tolerant to heat, styling products, hair dye and breakage than fine or medium hair. But this also means that your hair takes longer to dry and can get frizzy in humid weather.
Now that we know our hair texture and the differences, let’s take a minute and look at how the hair is transplanted, In FUE individual follicular units are obtained and harvested directly from the donor area so after a hair transplant, depending on the location from where the donor hair was harvested will determine the texture and color of the hair.
For instance, if you have blonde curly hair in the donor area, after it is transplanted to the recipient site, it will maintain the same color and texture.
After a few weeks, the transplanted hair will fall out leaving the transplanted hair follicle intact, paving way for the new hair to generally begin to grow again.
However, the texture of the hair may further change after hair transplantation due to unavoidable trauma that takes place as follicles are removed from the scalp and placed into recipient sites.
This usually self-corrects over a period of 1-2 years during which time the transplanted hair gradually regains its original luster and texture. The transplanted hair is considered to be strong and resistant to the hormonal cause of hair loss which hair lives and grows indefinitely.
Every one of us is born with a unique hair texture and hair type and it is difficult to change your type of hair to a different hair type. However, the way your type of hair looks is something you can alter.
Some people prefer to curl, straighten, braid or perm your hair, for example but these ways also may cause breakage and even hair loss. You can also alter your hair care routine. Dry, dull or frizzy hair can be helped with various home treatments, like natural hair masks, natural oil treatment or products.
